Cultivate positive thought seedlings
What we pay attention to grows. Just as when you plant seeds, water them and otherwise tend to them, you can grow a plant that may even be a tree that bears fruit for you in the future, we are continually planting seeds in our minds, then “feeding and watering” them. Eventually we reap the results, positive from a positive seed, or negative from negative.Take a moment to reflect - what thoughts are you feeding and watering with your attention and repetition? Thoughts have energy and a gravitational pull – they attract similar thoughts, as well as lead us to similar actions and like-minded individuals. Every action we do originally had its motivating force in a thought. This is the meaning of karma, a fundamental truth found not only in eastern religions and yoga philosophy, but also in the Bible: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Of course, karma includes women too! It is universal.Gratitude and appreciation are powerful positive thought seeds that can grow and uplift us. Appreciate the beauty of nature, and other people. You may want to make a gratitude list or journal – each evening, write three things you are grateful for from your day. Even if (especially if) your day sucked. Even on the worst of days there is something positive to focus on. (Of course, don’t get upset thinking a thought about how pathetic it is that these small things are the best part of your day, because that is a needless negative thought. Simply appreciate the small things.) Acknowledging even small things with gratitude are seeds you are planting to grow something positive in your future.Do you practice gratitude or use any other techniques to think more positive?
